Social Media Stats at your wikki’ed little finger tips..
Tuesday, July 29, 2008

Thanks to Helen Lawrence (Social Media Planner at Dare) we've now got a one stop source for Social Media Statistics.. very useful resource.. saves having to search across the inter web for these, lets just hope there kept up to date.
In her own words...
OK, so it's not the snazziest name for a project ever. Oh well.
I'm attempting to create a big home for all facts and figures around social media - because I'm fed up of trawling around for it and I'm also sure that I'm not the only one who gets asked 'how many users does Facebook have?' every hour of every day.
I'm hoping that this wiki will not only include usage stats, but also behaviour and attitude stats. It's a bit of a skeleton at the moment, with v few of my stats having stated sources, but be patient - and help where you can!
Please add in any juicy stats as you come across them, and do cite your references and link to them where possible.
It's not just about the stats, we also need to measure the effect of these numbers - for all this, head over to MeasurementCamp. It's awesome. It's a big conversation about how we should measure the success of campaigns and how we can show things like ROI, or indeed if we even should!
Thanks
Helen Lawrence
xp.s. blog stats are excluded from this site, otherwise it'll just become a huge mess of lies.
The design isn't worth mentioning but the stats on the site is very useful for instance I wouldn't of thought Yahoo would be above Google in 2008 but her source seems solid enough (Even in the link has been entered into the Wikki incorrectly).
I shall be watching the development of this project and her very funny blog with interest, good work Helen.
Musing done.
Experiments In Colour - Stage1
Monday, July 14, 2008
Just an Monday night play thing.. Relating patterns is something we all do every day, with the Experiments in Colour seriese I am to challenge the way in which those patterns reflect on the way we live our lives, Stage 1a - Uses 4 base tones, relating to Sunrise, Midday, Sunset and Dusk.. I've added the rotation feature to allow you the user, to explore the piece from other rotations, discoving new paterns and meaning.. the Experiments in Colour series will hopefully develop into something which explores our relationships with colours and patterns. .
Kudo's to all those exhibiting at The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition who inspired me to explore the otherside of digital creation, digital creation for it's own sake without any need for commercial ratification or consumption, it is purely created for it's own sake, random, imperfect, balanced.
